UPDATE: 8/2/2022 — According to the New Orleans Police Department, two victims were hit by stray bullets from an altercation between two other suspects. The NOPD reported that there was a 38-year-old victim and a 57-year-old victim in the incident.

Reports show that the suspects were two males who got into an altercation and shot at each other. The suspects reportedly missed each other and hit the two bystanders. Police say that one victim refused treatment and the other was taken to the hospital by EMS.


NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A late-night shooting in the Holy Cross neighborhood left one person hospitalized on Monday. Police say the initial call came in shortly before 10:30 p.m.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, officers responded to the 6200 block of Rampart Street, in the Lower 9th Ward. On the scene, police located an adult male gunshot victim.

Early reports from the shooting indicated the victim was taken to an area hospital for a gunshot wound to the leg. Other details involving the victim’s age and medical status were unavailable.

The NOPD has not yet released information regarding a suspect or motive. The shooting remains under investigation.
