Slidell police say a man in town to audition for the television show “The X-Factor” stole a car and led officers on a high speed chase.

They say Orrion Wilson stole the car from the Kangaroo gas station on Voters Road Monday night.

Officers say Wilson refused to pull over in the stolen car and rammed a police cruiser.

The department says an officer ended the chase with what’s commonly called  a pit maneuver.

Wilson says he had to steal the car because he flew to New Orleans and didn’t have the money to return home to Florida, officers said.

They also say Wilson told them he had performed well in his audition and was asked to audition again in New York.
