Tropical Depression 7 forms in the Atlantic

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Tropical Depression 7 formed Monday evening and will most likely become Tropical Storm Gaston over the next day as it churns out in the Atlantic Ocean. The system is expected to eventually turn northward into the open waters of the Atlantic and should not have an impact on the U.S. coast.

Tropical Depression Fiona, meanwhile, continues to weaken and will be a remnant low shortly. Between the two systems is another tropical wave, which isn’t showing signs of organization quite yet. Located about 1,000 miles east of the Antilles, the wave will slowly move into more favorable waters and could begin to organize as it approaches Hispaniola and the Bahamas. Areas along the Southeastern Atlantic coastline should monitor this wave through the weekend.
