Gov. Jindal declares state of emergency due to severe weather

BATON ROUGE – Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal declared a state of emergency Monday as a result of severe weather moving through the state.

The declaration initiates emergency plans and frees up resources in case the severe weather causes destruction.

The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Watch for most of Louisiana until 10 p.m. Monday.

Those Louisiana parishes include Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, Saint Bernard, Saint Charles, Saint James, Saint John the Baptist, Saint Tammany, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne and Washington.

In Mississippi, areas of Hancock, Harrison and Pearl River counties are effected.
