NFL great Buddy Ryan has died, agent James Solano confirmed to ESPN. Ryan was 82 years old.
Ryan is best remembered for building some of the most feared defenses in NFL history. Ryan was the defensive coordinator when the Chicago Bears and the New York Jets took home Super Bowl victories.
Ryan coached in the NFL for 35 years either as a head coach or an assistant. But in recent years, his health declined. Ryan suffered a stroke and was fighting cancer.
Ryan is survived by his two sons, twins Rex and former Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.
