The Saints first round draft pick is on the practice field, again.

Sheldon Rankins, who suffered a broken fibula at training camp in August, returned to the practice field Wednesday. Rankins was placed on injured reserve by the Saints September 5th. But, each club can designate one player to return.

Rankins was activated off on injured reserve Wednesday.

Under the injured reserve rules, a player is eligible to play two weeks after his return to the active roster.

After practice, Rankins said the new rule will help him shake off the rust.

Saints offensive Terron Armstead (knee) returned to practice and was limited.

The following players did not practice according to the report the Saints sent to the NFL.

CB Delvin Breaux (fibula), LB Dannell Ellerbe (quadricep), DT Nick Fairley (not injury related), DE Paul Kruger (back), CB Sterling Moore (abdomen), T Andrus Peat (groin).

The Saints play at Kansas City Sunday at noon. The Chiefs are a 7 point favorite.
