(WGNO) – The Chalmette Owls are finished celebrating their first district title in football since 2004.

. The Owls were coached then by legendary head coach Bobby Nuss.

Current Owls head coach Jason Tucker said his players are excited, but ready to make a mark in the playoffs.

Chalmette defeated Landry Walker 17-12 in the regular season.

In 2004, the Owls won the a district football title in class 3A. The title capped a two stretch when Chalmette won 19 regular season games, lost only 1.

The 2015 Owls are led by running back Masen Mitchell. Mitchell has rushed for 1,613 yards and 25 touchdowns.

Game time at Behrman Stadium Friday night is 7 p.m.
