NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Dallas Cowboys picked former Riverside Academy basketball standout Rico Gathers in the 6th round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

The former No. 1 recruit in the state of Louisiana set a Baylor University school record of 394 rebound his junior year.

The 6’8″, 280 pound, All-American power forward hasn’t played football since he was 13. He said that has been his plan since middle school.

Gathers has been training with Duke Rousse at The Duke Academy.
