Brother Martin has a tough test against Karr

(WGNO New Orleans)– The Brother Martin Crusaders will have one of their toughest two weeks starting Friday night against Edna Karr followed by John Curtis . Brother Martin is coming off their 68-21 dominance of St. Stanislaus. Running Bruce Jordan-Swilling only played a half for the Saders and why not? Jordan-Swilling looked to be in the endzone every time he touched the ball. Bruce broke two records in one half?! The first record was a school record 313 yards most in a single game. Second record 7 touchdowns, most touchdowns in a single game.

“You think about it seventeen carries in one half, you talk about that guy in New Jersey (Journey Brown, 722 yards; 10 TDs) he played a whole football game, who knows.” says Bonis

One could only imagine, if Jordan-Swilling were to stay in the game for the second half he could surpass or come close to Journey Brown’s stats. If you ask Jordan-Swilling about playing the rest of the game his answer is not about him he’s about the team.

“Coach (Bonis) told me to stay around while we play the younger kids, because we’re about to start district, I’m fine with that because I know that later on I’ll get tired and need a break.” says Jordan-Swilling.

Edna Karr’s record is like the old saying your parents used to tell you, “Don’t judge a book by its cover”. On paper the Cougars are 0-2, but don’t think that Friday night it’s going to be an easy win for Brother Martin. Karr’s first game of the season, St. Paul’s School, they played one of the best teams in state in the Wolves losing 34-7. In week two the Cougars a complete 180 coming close to beating rival Landry-Walker 38-35. From week one to week two the offense shined 224 yards against St. Paul’s School compared to 428 yards against Landry-Walker. Edna Karr and Brother square off Friday Night at Tad Gormley in City Park kick off set for seven o’clock.
