ABC’s fall 2015 night by night: TGIT stays put, Sundays hope to strike ‘Oil’

After a bounce-back year in the ratings, ABC isn’t making too many changes to its schedule for the 2015-16 season.

Although the network has as usual ordered a bunch of new shows — 10 in all — only half of those will make their debuts in the fall. Three new dramas (“Quantico,” “Oil” and “Of Kings and Prophets”) and two new comedies (“The Muppets” and “Dr. Ken”) will join a host of returning favorites in the lineup.

Three nights — Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday — aren’t changing at all. The Shonda Rhimes-fueled “TGIT” lineup of “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal” and “How to Get Away With Murder” will remain intact, as will the Wednesday comedy block leading into “Nashville.”

“The Muppets” will kick off Tuesdays, leading into sophomore comedy “Fresh Off the Boat,” which is moving back a half hour. “Quantico,” about a group of FBI recruits that includes a possible terrorist, gets the 10 p.m. ET/PT spot following “Agents of SHIELD.”

“Dr. Ken” gets the Friday spot vacated by the canceled “Cristela,” and Sunday gets a makeover with “Oil,” a soap set against the backdrop of an oil boom in North Dakota, and “Of Kings and Prophets,” a biblical drama starring Ray Winstone as King Saul.
