NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Thousands of decked-out fans gathered in the French Quarter Saturday for a commemorative second line honoring singer, songwriter, David Bowie.
Arcade Fire and Preservation Hall led the tribute from Preservation Hall to the Mississippi River and ending at One Eyed Jacks.
Organizers asked participants to dress in Bowie-inspired attire or “something more strange.”
Arcade Fire and Bowie worked together in the later years of his life.
They performed the band’s hit “Wake Up” during a concert in 2005.
Bowie later appeared on their 2013 album, “Reflector.”
Bowie himself was a figure in popular music for more than five decades, mostly known for his work in the 1970’s.
He died from liver cancer last week at 69 years old.
