NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Two New Orleans spots were recognized in Food & Wine’s 2025 Global Tastemakers Awards.
According to a news release, Food & Wine announced the winners on April 2, with some of the categories including Top 10 Cities for Food and Drink, Top 15 U.S. Restaurants and Best Bar in the U.S.
The Food & Wine website states that each winner was selected after polling more than 400 chefs, travel experts, food and travel writers and wine professionals from across the world and having its “Global Advisory Board” and Food & Wine editors rank the nominees.
New Orleans was ranked fifth in the Top 10 U.S. Cities for Food and Drink, with New York City taking the top spot.
The release states that Cure was named the Best Bar in the U.S.
According to the Cure website, Cure opened in 2009 and has been shaking up classic and new cocktails on Freret Street. The website states that the bar won a James Beard Award in 2018 for Outstanding Bar Program.
Among the top 15 U.S. Restaurants is Emeril’s, which was ranked fifth.
Emeril’s opened in 1990 and is now led by Emeril Lagasse’s son, EJ Lagasse, after renovations in 2023.
