JEFFERSON, La. (WGNO) – Tomorrow is the day that Haydel’s Bakery will start selling the much-anticipated, brand new baked hand pies. The excitement is high. News with a Twist Reporter Kenny Lopez got a first taste and decided to let others try the pies!
Dave Haydel Jr. at Haydel’s Bakery said, “We’ve been working on this for a year-and-a-half now. It’s great that they are finally coming to fruition. We used to make the pies back when we had a donut shop in the 1960s. We recently found an old menu and they were on it, so we decided to bring them back.”
The hand pies are glazed with the same icing they use for petit fours. Haydel’s will be selling four flavors of pies: lemon, cherry, chocolate and apple. They officially go on sale Friday, Sept. 9 at Haydel’s Bakery and at Fleurty Girl store locations. The pies cost $2.49.
