We’re in our second week of our 31-day Swerve Sugar Detox Challenge – last week we talked about strategies for slashing sugar plus hidden sugars to avoid, and this week Molly is here with some easy sugar replacers.

IN BAKING:

Simply use less – start by cutting the sugar by one-quarter, then gradually cut back to half.

Swerve Sweetener – measures cup-for-cup like sugar; has zero glycemic impact, all-natural.

Fruit Puree – think applesauce, mashed bananas, pureed papaya.   Can be swapped out for sugar in a 1:1 ratio, but for every cup of fruit puree you use, reduce the amount of liquid in the recipe by 1/4 cup.

Vanilla or Almond Extract – adding an extra teaspoon or so gives more flavor with almost zero calories.

Plumseed Oil (available at VOM FASS) adds a marzipan-like flavor

ON YOGURT, OATMEAL, IN SMOOTHIES:

Vanilla or Almond Extract

Plumseed Oil

Swerve Sweetener

FOR SIPPING:

Flavored coffee (flavored coffee beans, not sugary syrups)

Flavored tea (hot or cold)

Vitaminwater ZERO

La Croix Sparkling Water

Zevia or Honest Fizz
