COVINGTON, La. (WGNO) – Four people have been arrested in connection with a shooting death that happened Oct. 4 at a Covington Area motel.

St. Tammany Parish deputies were called Oct. 4 to the Green Springs Motel, where someone had reported shots being fired. When they arrived, they found 32-year-old Brandon Washington shot to death.

The following day, deputies arrested 27-year-old Terry Hookfin and booked him with second-degree murder. The same week, the sheriff’s office said Demitri James, 19, was wanted for first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death.

According to the sheriff’s office, Hookfin and James, along with 37-year-old Devin Decoud and 18-year-old Tyreek Sandifer, all went to the motel to rob Washington.

At some point during the robbery, James reportedly shot and killed Washington.

James was the last suspect to be detained. He was apprehended Tuesday by U.S. Marshals.
