Sprinklers help dogs beat the heat at the Jefferson Parish shelter

MARRERO, LA (WGNO) — Hot dogs are great this time of year, as long as you’re talking food.  But hot — as in overheated– four-legged dogs are not cool.

Workers at the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter on Ames Blvd. in Marrero let some of the dogs have a great time while beating the heat.  Keep in mind, not every dog is ready to roll when it comes to lawn sprinklers and kiddie pools, so only the ones that might embrace the opportunity get an invite.

This video was supplied by shelter worker Kristopher Hunt.  You’d be hard pressed to find shelter workers anywhere else who care more about the animals that they’re trying to save.

The dog in this video is a nine month old pit mix named Marley.  The dog was surrendered because he was jumping on the owner’s kids.  Are. You. Kidding. Me?

If you’d like to run through sprinklers and jump with Marley, stop by and see him at the shelter which is located in Marrero at 1869 Ames Boulevard.  And if you like, check out some of the other fantastic animals that also need a home.  They’ll be your friend for life, if you’ll let them!
