NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Orleans Parish District Attorney’s office announced the conviction of 23-year-old Marva Turner in multiple robbery cases. Prosecutors say Turner acted as the getaway driver.
In all, Turner pleaded guilty to four counts of armed robbery, two counts of attempted armed robbery, two counts of simple robbery, one of first-degree robbery and one of attempted simple robbery.
According to prosecutors, Turner and two accomplices, Carlos Tobias and Joshua Summers, went on a crime spree from February 5-9 of this year.
On Feb. 5, they’re accused of three robberies or attempted robberies. One was in the 2100 block of South Lopez Street and the other two were in the 1600 block of Soniat St. and 3100 Nashville Avenue.
Prosecutors say the trio committed one robbery the following day in the 4600 block of Lasalle then one on Feb. 8 at South Robertson and Octavia.
On Oct. 9, prosecutors say the three committed three robberies, one in the 3500 block of Robert, then at the intersection of Marais and Ursuline, and Milan and South Derbigny.
Turner was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment. The other two accomplices in the cases, Tobias and Summers, each received 15 year sentences after their guilty pleas.
