KENNER, La. (WGNO) – Voters in Jefferson elected Parish Councilman Ben Zahn to serve as Kenner’s next mayor.
Zahn, a Republican, defeated Kenner City Councilman Gregory Carroll, a Democrat, with 8,404 votes, or 72 percent.
Zahn, who owns Zahn’s Florals and Plant Decorating in Kenner, will be finishing the term of embattled Jefferson Parish President Mike Yenni, who left the Kenner mayor’s seat when he was elected parish president. Yenni has since been implicated in a sexting scandal with a 17-year-old boy.
