NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Saints head coach Sean Payton said starting cornerback PJ Williams is heading back to New Orleans Monday after suffering a concussion in Sunday’s 16-13 loss to the New York Giants.

Williams was carted off the field after getting a knee to the head by teammate Craig Robertson as the two combined on a tackle.

Payton says the signs for Williams are encouraging.

The Saints lost to the Giants, despite winning the turnover battle 3-0. The big play in the game occurred in the second quarter. Wil Lutz’s 38 yard field goal attempt was blocked and returned 65 yards for a touchdown by Janoris Jenkins.

Here’s what safety Roman Harper said about that play, and how the Saints can move forward after an 0-2 start.

The Saints and the Redskins are the only 0-2 teams in the NFC.

Chicago, 0-1, hosts Philadelphia Monday night.

The Saints host the Atlanta Falcons Monday night September 26th at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
