New Orleans leaders help kids with ‘Dancing for the Arts’

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) –  Keeping arts in the schools is something worthwhile.

That’s why Young Audiences of Louisiana, the leading provider for arts education programs in our state, is hosting “Dancing for the Arts,” a gala to raise necessary funds.   News with a Twist Reporter Kenny Lopez will be one of the “celebrity judges” at Saturday’s event.

“This is very important for arts programs in our schools, especially since we lost funding from the state,”  Beverly Matheney, board member with Young Audiences of Louisiana, said.

“Dancing for the Arts” teams up professional dancers with local leaders, who will perform a “Dancing with the Stars” kind of show at Harrah’s Saturday night at 7 p.m.  For tickets, click HERE.

The star dancers are Mark El-Amm (attorney), Holley Haag (First NBC Bank), Russ Herman (Herman Herman, & Katz LLP), Tonya Johnson (Louisiana Department of Education), Dr. Tami Singleton (oncologist & pharmacist), Dr. David Silvers (founder/head physician, Metairie Gastroenterology), and Joan Zaslow (attorney & community activist).

Young Audiences partnered with Max Messier of Cocktail & Sons . He created a signature drink for the event.
