NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – A New Orleans guy just got his degree from UNO.
Now he’s ready to move up in the world.
WGNO News with a Twist features guy Wild Bill Wood discovers he’s moving up, by moving underground.
Deep, deep underground.
His name is Dallas. He’s originally from Maine.
Dallas Rolnick.
Dallas is a carpenter in New Orleans. He just got his degree in civil engineering. And he just likes to build stuff. He’s got a passion to pound out anything with a hammer.
Dallas will have his hands full as he heads to Europe in August. He’s got a Fulbright Scholarship to help build the world’s longest tunnel.
The tunnel is for a train to travel from Austria to Italy. It’s a trip of about 40 miles. And it’s a mile deep under the earth.
Dallas says it’ll take about 18 years to build the tunnel. That means it’ll be finished in 2026.
To be part of this project means Dallas has to say so-long, at least for now, to carpenter colleagues like Norman Jackson.
Dallas and Norman are re-modeling a house in New Orleans right now.
Norman is a father of six, grandfather of 22 and great grandfather of three.
Wild Bill wonders if Norman can name all of them?
Find out and see how Norman’s got the motion of the commotion Dallas is about to discover on his adventure.
