Baton Rouge, La. -(WGNO)- According to his Facebook page Mike VI, has been moved from his habitat on the LSU Campus to hospice care.

Mike the Tiger is being treated for a cancerous tumor on the right side of his head, near his nose.

According to doctors at the LSU school of Veterinary Medicine, that tumor has continued to grow and his cancer has spread to other parts of his body.

Vets were able to shrink the tumor with radiation treatment, but, since that treatment was discontinued, the tumor has started to grow again.

Mike’s doctor’s say that the move to hospice will allow them to keep Mike as comfortable as possible and the stress that they will not allow him to suffer unnecessarily.
