Mayor Mitch Landrieu unveiled a five year plan for economic development.

The New Orleans Business Alliance has been working on the plan for almost one year.

The mayor says it includes specific goals to attract higher paying jobs to the city.

He says leaders are working quickly to convince more businesses to invest in Southeast Louisiana.

“People have noted about all of us in this room that we are very aggressive.  And we’re aggressive because we’re impatient, and we`re impatient because we’re really far behind and we have a lot of work to do and we deserve it.  And so it is a new way of looking at life.  If anybody here wants to go slow they should go someplace else.

According to the plan there are five industries with the most opportunity for growth in New Orleans.

They are advanced manufacturing, bio innovation, health sciences, creative digital media, sustainable industries and transportation, as well as trade and logistics.
