SLIDELL, La. (WGNO)— A family is picking up the pieces after lightning struck their Slidell home, causing it to go up in flames. Although three people were home, including a nine-month-old, no one was injured, however, officials say that the home is a total loss.

According to the St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 Facebook page, the fire broke out around 3 p.m. on Monaco Drive as heavy thunderstorms passed through the North Shore on Monday afternoon. Photos from the fire department show at least four fire engines and several firefighters set up in front of a brick house with flames visible.
