Slidell student arrested immediately after bringing gun on school campus, police say

SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) — A Slidell student is in custody after police say he brought a handgun to school on Friday (Oct. 14). The incident happened on the campus of Salmen High School.


In a post on the Slidell Police Department Facebook page, a school resource officer was alerted just after 1 p.m. that a 15-year-old student had a weapon in his possession. The officer located the teen and found the gun concealed in his waistband.

The student was immediately arrested and transferred to the Florida Parish Juvenile Detention Center. He now faces charges of:
