CLEVELAND — New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore was arrested in Ohio on Thursday night, according to the Cleveland Department of Public Safety. The 24-year-old Cleveland native was arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property, according to sources with knowledge of his arrest.

Lattimore’s attorney sent WGNO the following statement, referring to the incident as a “misunderstanding.”

“Mr. Lattimore, a proud Cleveland native with no prior criminal record or history, is fully cooperating with law enforcement’s investigation of this matter,” said Marcus Sidoti, partner at Friedman, Gilbert + Gerhardstein, who represents Lattimore. “He was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by police and was arrested without incident and was not formally charged. We believe that this was a misunderstanding and that this will become even clearer as new information becomes available and is shared with the authorities.”

Reports show that Cleveland Police conducted a traffic stop after noticing multiple traffic violations.

During the course of the traffic stop, a loaded Glock 19 handgun was observed inside of the vehicle, which prompted a further search.

A passenger in the vehicle, Marshon Lattimore, was found to have a loaded handgun in his possession. He was arrested for CCW (Failure to Notify) and Receiving Stolen Property, after the handgun was later found to be entered as stolen out of the city of Euclid, Ohio.

Two additional passengers, Kenyon Moon and Maurice Walton were arrested for Having Weapons While Under Disability.

The driver, Carl Willis was arrested for Improper Handling of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle. Willis was also issued a traffic ticket for Taillights required.

Jail records confirm Lattimore was booked into the Cuyahoga County Jail on the charge, but he has not been formally charged.

Lattimore is a three-time Pro Bowl selection and the 2017 Defensive Rookie of the Year. He starred at Glenville High School and Ohio State University before the Saints drafted him in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft.
