NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — An arrest was made in the Lundi Gras homicide investigation, involving the death of an Uber Driver and passenger and the wounding of three others.

33-year-old Tyree Quinn is now in custody facing two counts of second-degree murder and three counts of attempted second-degree murder, after the Feb. 20 shooting at the intersection North I-10 Service Road at Bundy Road.

On that Monday, the New Orleans Police Department responded to the call of shots fired in the New Orleans East area just after 5:30 p.m. and when they responded, a crash between a black Dodge and a white Nissan was discovered at the scene.

The Dodge’s occupants, 35-year-old Andrew Stiller and 21-year-old Johnell Hampton were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds to the head. Three others in the Nissan were also wounded by gunfire: a 35-year-old man, a 38-year-old woman, and another unidentified woman. They were all taken to the hospital by EMS in unknown conditions.

Preliminary investigations revealed the shooting sent the Dodge off the road, through a fence crashing into the Nissan traveling between the Read Boulevard on-ramp and the Crowder Boulevard Exit.

Further investigation identified Quinn as the person responsible and an arrest warrant was issued. On Wednesday (Mar. 1) the Violent Offenders Warrant Squad and the NOPD located, arrested, and booked Quin into the  Orleans Parish Justice Center.

Police say Quinn did not act alone and are still searching for three other suspects. All suspects are said to have been armed during the shooting.

“We are not done. This is still an open and active investigation,” Captain Kevin Burns, Jr. said. “We’re still looking to identify three individuals that are tied to this investigation. I’m asking the public to please come forward with information, tell us what you know, tell us what you saw.”
