NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)— The New Orleans Police Department began investigating a deadly shooting in New Orleans East Wednesday afternoon.
The NOPD tweeted that the shooting happened in the 8000 block of Trapier Street, located in the Little Woods area just before 3:30.
Police said a man was found in the scene suffering from a gunshot wound and taken to the hospital by EMS where he later died from his injuries.
The Orleans Parish Coroners office will release the victims identity and official cause of death after an autopsy is done and the family is notified.
Police continue to investigate the shooting. Anyone with any additional information is urged to contact NOPD.
