NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a shooting in the St. Roch area that left a man dead Monday night.

The NOPD reports the shooting happened just before 8 p.m. in the 1800 block of Marigny Street. Responding officers found a man on the scene suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

We’re told the victim was taken to the hospital by EMS where he later died. On Thursday, the Orleans Parish Coroner identified the victim as 40-year-old Sam Marshall.

Details regarding a suspect and a motive were unavailable. The shooting remains under investigation by the NOPD.
