Scene secure, 2 detained for questioning after shots fired at Covington sports complex

COVINGTON, La. (WGNO) — The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office began investigating an incident detectives say involved gunfire Tuesday evening.

Just before 6 p.m., the deputies were called to the Coquille Sports Complex near the intersection of Highway 1085 and Highway 1077 for a report of shots fired in the area.

Details of the shooting were not immediately available, however, STPSO confirmed that no one was hurt and the scene was secure.

Detectives said a vehicle of interest had been located at a gas station near the scene, along with two people who were detained and questioned about the incident.

No further details are available at this time as the investigation is ongoing. Information will be given as it comes in.
