WGNO staffers worked out of trailers for 6 months after Hurricane Katrina (Look Back)

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – WGNO and its employees never stopped working. Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans August 29, 2005, and the levees failed flooding 80 percent of the city, including WGNO’s new studio and newsroom at the New Orleans Center. But that didn’t prevent our anchors and reporters from covering the storm and aftermath.

They worked out of doublewide trailers for nearly six months before moving into a studio at the World Trade Center.

Our sister-station in Chicago WGN sent a reporter to the Big Easy to see how we were managing.
