NEW ORLEANS – On Friday, Mayor Cantrell addressed the status of the coronavirus pandemic in New Orleans. Also, Mayor Cantrell announced that beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday morning, all takeout alcohol sales will be prohibited in the city of New Orleans. Mayor Cantrell said that in short, “our bars are closed.”

Dr. Avegno also announced that surge testing resources will now be available in New Orleans. The first location will be a drive-through site at the UNO Lakefront Arena, on Tuesday,July 28, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

NOFD Superintendent Tim McConnell then addressed the media to discuss the ongoing recovery and demolition efforts at the site of the Hard Rock Hotel collapse.
