NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — After a seemingly never-ending spate of violent crime New Orleans, the NOPD held a press conference on Tuesday afternoon to address recent incidents.

NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson believes a lack of jury trials during the pandemic has played a significant role in the uptick of violent crime.

In the span of the past two weeks, the NOPD has investigated as many as nine homicides, 23 non-fatal shootings and 15 armed robberies.
