Homicide suspect surrenders to JPSO after 4-hour standoff with SWAT

HARVEY, La. — Nearly four hours after a SWAT roll was issued to a hotel in Harvey, La., a homicide suspect surrendered peacefully to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and a U.S. Marshal Task Force on Monday afternoon.

The Task Force tracked the suspect, who was said to be armed, to the Red Roof Inn in the in the 3700 block of the West Bank Expressway. The SWAT roll was issued at 10 a.m. to the hotel where the suspect had barricaded himself.


“We used our negotiators, also the family itself, to communicate with the suspect,” said Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto following the arrest. “The suspect surrendered and was taken into custody by the JPSO and U.S. Marshal Task Force.”
