Suspect sought for spray-painting threatening, vulgar messages on Isidore Newman campus

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – NOPD is looking for a man who vandalized several areas of Isidore Newman School overnight.

According to NOPD, a man is seen on video surveillance at about 1:33 a.m. approaching the school from Loyola Street. He was wearing a mask, dark clothing, a dark backpack and a dark hat.

He’s then seen on video spray-painting numerous threatening and vulgar messages on buildings throughout the campus.

Investigators believe he could be responsible for similar acts of vandalism reported in the area – one on the wall of the Children’s Advocacy Center, another in the 7100 block of Plum Street, three other incidents on Calhoun Street and one on Perrier Street.

Newman School has closed for the day and has postponed the start of classes until Monday, Aug. 22.

NOPD and the FBI’s Hate Crimes Division are investigating.
