MANDEVILLE, La. (WGNO) – Students at the Cedarwood School ditched their red uniforms on Monday and “went blue” to honor — and help — the Mandeville Police Department.
The kids collected donations for the department’s Mounted Unit.
Mandeville police have three horses they use to patrol along the lakefront and at events like high school football games. But officers pay for most of the animals’ care out of their own pockets.
So to say thanks for the help — officers brought by one of the horses to meet the kids.
Students also wrote letters and made cards to show their support for police officers.
