New Orleans (WGNO)–At Little Vic’s on Toulouse Street the Feast of St. Joseph was celebrated a day early because the Sicilian restaurant is located on the parade route.

Complete with lucky fava beans, lemons, lots of bread and, of course, the color of Italy.

Money raised at the altar and during the feast is going to Covenant House.

Vic Caracci of Little Vic’s Rosticceria says, “The breads are a tradition. Not sure where it comes from, but very elaborate breads. Originally in Sicily they go crazy with the bread. The breads are all over the altar from top to bottom. They decorate with it.”

That’s the restaurant’s namesake, Vic Caracci.

He says this is a longtime family tradition.

He even has a clipping from the Times-Pic showing his great-grandmother baking bread for a St. Joseph’s altar.
