KENNER, La. — On Wednesday afternoon, the Kenner Police Department began investigating a single car accident that sent the driver to the hospital.
The crash happened around 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Power Boulevard and Vintage Drive.
There, police discovered a vehicle submerged in a canal.
The driver, a 58-year-old male, was extracted from vehicle, unconscious, and transported to an area hospital. No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
In a Thursday afternoon update, Kenner Police said the driver is in stable condition.
Two passerby’s saw the car upside down in canal, went into the water and were able to remove driver from car and lay him on the underbody of car until first responders arrived in scene.
As they did this the car continued to slowly go under therefore they could not search for additional passengers. A diver was called out to search further.
