Row of Seventh Ward homes go up in flames

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The American Red Cross was on the scene helping displaced tenants after fire reduces an entire row of duplexes along Claiborne Avenue to rubble.

The woman who ran out of the burning unit with her fiancé says flames were coming from the abandoned house next door.

It took 65 firefighters about 45 minutes to get the blaze under control.

In all three structures were heavily damaged, two of them vacant.

The New Orleans fire department says their investigation points to trespassing homeless people as the cause.
