NEW ORLEANS — According to a report from The Athletic, Caesars Entertainment Inc. is expected to sign a deal with the Superdome.

This would make the largest gaming company in the U.S. the naming rights sponsor for the next 20 years.

The Athletic reports that the deal would be worth an estimated $200 million, producing $10 million annually over the next two decades.

It would also make the Superdome the first NFL stadium with a gambling-based naming rights sponsor.

No word yet on what the new name of the Superdome would be once its contract with Mercedes-Benz expires in July.

An official announcement could come once the contract ends.

WGNO reached out to Caesars Entertainment Inc. for comment, and the VP of Corporate Communications and Production Kate Whiteley responded with this statement:

As I’m sure you know, Caesars Entertainment has long had strong ties to New Orleans, the State of Louisiana, and the entire Gulf Coast region. We are proud of our continued partnership with both the Saints and the Pelicans. However, we have nothing to share beyond our current, valuable relationship with the teams.
