NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – An 80-year-old woman faced a scary situation yesterday when a man knocked her down and attempted to flee with her purse.
According to initial reports by the NOPD, the unidentified woman was unloading her car in the 700 block of Alvar Street around 10 a.m. yesterday when a man approached her, knocked her to the ground, grabbed her purse, and took off on a bicycle.
Nearby workers heard the woman screaming and chased the man down. The NOPD was able to capture and arrest the suspect, according to the report.
There was no information on the condition of the woman.
