NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – 4636 South Claiborne Avenue is the new Planned Parenthood construction site in New Orleans. It’s the future spot where abortions will be performed and that’s not sitting well with pro-lifers.

Thursday’s rally also protests the health care center’s alleged profiting of body parts of aborted children.

Louisiana Right to Life supporters say it’s horrific.

“I have to do something, I have to be that voice that cannot speak for themselves,” says protester Jill Artehea.

Pro-lifers are urging Congress to defund Planned Parenthood in this year’s budget.

The Legislative Director of Louisiana Right to Life says for her, it’s not only a moral issue, but a personal one as well. She was adopted out of the foster care system and wants to make sure unwanted children are granted the same opportunities that she had.

“By most pro-choice standards, my 19-year-old mother probably should have aborted me. I was her 4th child and she couldn’t take care of us. I’m one of those unwanted children they always talk about,” says Louisiana Right to Life Legislative Director Deanna Wallace.

In response to the allegations against Planned Parenthood, the non-profit issued this statement:

“Recently an organization that opposes safe and legal abortion used secretly recorded, heavily edited videos to make outrageous claims against programs that help women donate fetal tissue for medical research. I want to be really clear. The allegation that Planned Parenthood profits in any way from tissue donation is not true. Our donation programs, like any other health care providers follows all laws and ethical guidelines,” says President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America Cecile Richards.
