MANDEVILLE, LA (WGNO) — Students at  Marigny Elementary in Mandeville now have a bunch of new tools for learning.  The gifts arrived after their teacher, Dixie Steadham, began searching for a program that could supply the new supplies.

That’s where Chevron, the website DonorsChoose.org, and other community donations stepped-up to help.  It’s all part of the Fuel your Schools program.

Tuesday morning, Oct 4, the donors joined the pre-k students, teachers, and community leaders for the big reveal.  The new supplies include materials from Building Fine Motor Skills Games, a Trace & Write Alphabet Center, a Real Bugs Discovery Kit, Phonological Awareness Instant Learning Centers and the Early Math Folder Games Library.

The Fuel Your Schools program invites educators to apply for help to provide new teaching tools for kids.  This is the program’s fifth year to provide the materials in south Louisiana.  With Chevron’s help, last year the project funded projects in 571 schools in 10 parishes.
