Pothole or pool? Uptown folks swimming in massive pothole!

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Many of you at home may associate our station with potholes, especially with our popular, “Pothole of the Day” segments on News with a Twist.   Now, there’s a pothole Uptown that is out of this world.  It is so big that people are actually swimming in to cool off in the summertime heat!

WGNO’s Kenny Lopez went to investigate this pothole phenomenon on Milan & South Rocheblave Streets.

It bubbles like a hot tub, it flows like a river, and it looks like a tiny volcano!

“It looks like a little volcano erupting,” Neighbor, Freddie Seals said.

This sinkhole is causing emotions to erupt in the neighborhood.

“They need to come and fix it now because our water pressure is really low and its making our water bills high!  The Sewerage & Water Board needs to come fix this, as soon as possible,” Seals said.

Seals said that the sinkhole’s been here for about a month, and it keeps growing.

“A few days ago it was like 4 feet, and now its like six feet deep,” he said.

So deep in fact that some folks are using it as a swimming pool.

“There was a guy here last week that was actually swimming in it,” Seals said.
