NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)— On Friday, around 4 p.m., the Louisiana Department of Transportation announced all westbound lanes on I-10 at West End Boulevard in Orleans Parish is closed due to a multi-vehicle accident.

According to NOPD, there was one accident on each side of the interstate.  The accident on the westbound side involved a collapsed sign.

Preliminary reports indicate a dump truck traveling eastbound on I-10, for unknown reasons, lost control of his vehicle striking the guardrail.  Subsequently, the dump truck caused the overhead sign to fall on the westbound side of the interstate colliding with another vehicle. 

The drivers of the dump truck and the other vehicle were transported to the hospital.  The incident remains under investigation.  There is no further information available at this time.
