NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – We can’t wait to celebrate our little treasures of the sea this weekend at the Oyster Festival in Woldenberg Riverfront Park. It happens June 4 and 5, and WGNO is a proud sponsor.

Each night this week, we’re featuring some of the best oyster dishes around town. Tonight, it’s the famous oysters Rockefeller from Antoine’s in the French Quarter

They wouldn’t give away the secret recipe, but they did tell us why the sauce is green.

The dish is named after John D. Rockefeller, once the world’s richest man. And the sauce is green to denote the color of money.

Chefs at Antoine’s have a special oven just for the oysters Rockefeller. They say it’s like a pizza oven, but with no doors.

Tasty!
