NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD is searching for a man that they say dove into Lake Pontchartrain to try and save two men trapped inside of a car that crashed into the water near the Blue Crab Restaurant in the 7900 block of Lakeshore Drive.

According to investigators, two men were inside of a car in the restaurant’s parking lot when one of them put the car in drive and crashed into the Lake.

Witnesses and employees of the restaurant dove into the water and were able to free the two men from the car.

They were taken to hospital where one of them died from his injuries.

The other man is in stable condition.

Now the NOPD Dive Team will be searching for one of the men that jumped into the lake to help and never came up.

People on the scene who identified themselves as relatives of the missing man gave his name as Frank Williams, a cook at the Blue Crab.
