COVINGTON, La. (WGNO) – Sometimes a hot meal can make your problems disappear, at least for a little while. A group of restaurant owners and chefs on the north and south shore hope to do just that for those affected by flooding in Baton Rouge.

The group has been detailing their efforts on Facebook.

They spend Monday night packing fresh food, baked good, canned good, clothes, home goods, and toiletries into a truck and trailer. Their convey left this morning.

They’re working with the Red Cross and hope to set up by 9 a.m. at 4655 Sherwood Common Blvd, Baton Rouge.

According to a post on Facebook, the group will be cooking hot food to be delivered with other supplies to shelters in the area.
