NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – An NOPD officer was injured in an Uptown fender-bender this morning.

The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Robert and Freret Streets.

The officer was taken away by EMS, who loaded him onto a stretcher and into a waiting ambulance wearing a neck brace.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that a motorist ran into the unmarked police unit from behind, causing minor damage to both vehicles.
