NOPD names person of interest in SnoWizard armed robbery

Michael Gambino

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – New Orleans police now have a face and name for the man they believe held up an Uptown snoball stand on Wednesday and robbed a school last month.

Authorities say 51-year-old Michael Gambino is considered a person of interest in the brazen armed robbery of SnoWizard on Magazine Street, where the suspect pointed a gun at an employee and demanded money, before running away with the tip jar.

The NOPD says Gambino is wanted in a simple robbery on July 2 at Saint Georges School located at 923 Napoleon Ave. Gambino was seen on the school’s surveillance cameras jumping a fence and entering the school. He walked around the hallways, before leaving with computer equipment.

When Gambino is apprehended, detectives will question him and determine if he is responsible for the armed robbery of the SnoWizard or other crimes.
